ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rory Flanigan's leather sculpture adapts an ancient leather-working technique, and is informed by the shapes, textures and movement that build our natural world. She is interested in exploring relief, texture, repetition and decay. The use of vegetable-tanned leather (and it’s biodegradable nature) as the chosen medium, themes of impermanence and decomposition surface and serve as a variation on the classic Memento Mori.
Rory Flanigan is an American artist, fashion, graphic and jewelry designer. She holds a BA in Visual Art from University of Maryland, Baltimore County and is a graduate of the Fashion Design program at Parsons School of Design in New York City.
She currently lives and works in the Pacific Northwest.
